This weekend the core teaching staff and a group of Wellspring mothers attended Profectum’s 4th International Conference in Pasadena, CA. The three day event included keynote speakers such as Rosalind W. Picard, ScD, Tal Baz, MS, OTR/L, and Skip Rizzo, PhD among other great DIR-FCD Floortime professionals from the Profectum faculty.
In the photo on the right you can see Dr. Serena Weider, PhD, the co-founder of the DIR-FCD Floortime model listening to Dr. Picard– a pioneer in physiological stress “E4 sense technology” devices. Dr. Serena Weider still leads by example; she sat front row for every presentation, demonstrating that the evolution of transdisciplinary work never ends!
The second photo on the right is an example of an intervention program tailored to an individual profile of a child with complex needs from Tal Baz’s occupational therapy clinic; her presentation brought home the intensity and incredible enrichment of whole-child development.
Using virtual reality for therapeutic purposes was also a big theme from the conference. We look forward to seeing what the future has in store for children with special needs!
The best part was the opportunity for Wellspring’s core teaching staff to experience the conference highlights together!
